I have a c230 komp sedan and want to put on clear bumper lights. Can someone explain how to take the ugly orange ones off so i can replace them?

for the coupe you just pop the amber lenses off the rub strips. i know the sedan marker lights are different than the coupe. it should say in the owners manual though.
you should get the euro rub strips. they look alot better than having the amber lights, or clear marker lights. they are more expensive but for the look i think they are well worth it.

Just put a little force on top of the lense and slide them forward. Yup is that easy.

Maybe he lives in a state (one of 47-48) where it is actually illegal to have the Euro rub strips. I am forever amazed that the nation's one state so strict on pollution control devices pays no attention to US-DOT regulations that require side marker lamps since 1968.

i as well live in a state wear it is illegal. but having clear marker lights instead is just as illegal. the fact that i dont have them and looks like i never did, i figure im less apt to getting a fix it ticket than those who have clear markers with the white/blue bulbs in side.

Bulb numbers are listed in your manual. it also gives you instructions on how to replace them. OEM lens are a tight fit as compared to aftermarket.

Question about these...

I was told by F1motorsports (the company that sells the clear bumper lenses on Ebay) that these will NOT fit a 2004.5 C230k Sedan?

Is this true and can somebody else confirm this? Or is the company just trying to avoid not getting negative feedback in case they don't fit?

If somebody else (with a 2004.5 230k sedan) has already installed these, could you please let me know if the fitament is okay.

Thanks in advance everybody.

Just wondering if anybody with a 2004.5 was able to fit the Clear Bumper lenses on their ride? Sorry to quote myself, but hadn't heard anything from anybody.

bulbs are just the 194 wedge style. do a search for lighting, read the manual or go to the mbklasse.com lighting page.

Was wondering more about the Corner Bumper Lens than the light in my case. Does anybody know?

Of course, I've done a lot of searches and haven't found anybody with 2004.5 that put the clear bumper lens on successfully or even tried it for that matter.

Anybody?

i know what light your referring to (amber side marker in the impact strip) unless they changed the corner bulb to another size it is as i said, 194 wedge bulb.

LENS not bulb...

Okay, just for more clarification...

What I'm referring to in my quote is more for the clear LENS not the bulb. I am aware of the bulb number and what kind of bulb I need to put in, however,...

after sending emails to ALL the companies on EBAY about the Clear Bumper LENS, they indicated that this wouldn't fit...

What my question to any MBWORLD.ORG member is...

are there any members that own a 2004.5 + 230k sedan that have purchased and INSTALLED the LENS (NOT THE BULB) on their car?

ahh gotcha, sorry!

now im curious, what changed on the impact strip to cause this not to work for a 2004.5 but the previous years it does? visually the impact strips look the same to me on the 2002, 2003 and 2004 sedans. they look thicker on the 2005, but that may just be on the coupe that i noticed that.

No prob., Citron. After all, you're the first one to really engage in attempting to help me out on this one. As far as the impact strip or lens goes, your guess is as good as mine. From looking at the part, it looks exactly like all the previous models. I didn't feel like taking a chance on it so I was hoping someone else on the board has already done it succesfully. Oh well, hopefully someone will turn up.

Thanks for your help though. Appreciate it a lot.

what you could do is call the parts dept. at MB. ask about the part for the amber lense on a 2004 Sport Sedan. then see if its the same part number for the 2003 sport sedans or regular sedans. that way youll find out for sure if the part will work, although its aftermarket, if the clear lense was made to fit an 03 sedan or sport sedan, and the OEM lenses are the same, well you get the point.

Good idea. Never thought of approaching it like that. Thanks again.
