new alternator or battery????
I am putting in a car audio system in my c320 coupe.. a jl audio 1000/1, 300/2, 12w7, components, and a pioneer avic-n1 headunit.. just wanted to know if anyone else here has a similar setup?? I want to know because i dont know whether or not i will have to get a high output alternator or a new battery... i have been looking for an alternator, but no one sells them for my c class.... buying a battery is just as hard, just found out today that the optima yellow tops dont fit... anyways, please help me and let me know if i even need a new alternator or battery.. (i have a 2 farad cap..)

any GOOD auto electric shop can rewind your current alt to put out more power. try putting the system in first and see what happens. or install a battery isolator and run the second batt in the trunk. this way your car batt will just run the car, and the other batt will onlt run the audio system.

i was told that the stock mercedes battery is too narrow... i called optima and they said they dont make a battery for the mercedes yet.. wouldnt adding a second battery put even more strain on the alternator????
