Armrest Replacement

Hey, so I have the 3 way opening centre armrest with the phone cradle inside. The top leather piece of the armrest is broken, so I've just ordered a complete replacement. (£30 on eBay, with phone cradle too) Just looking for an easy way to replace this without taking the whole centre console out. I believe I have to push a couple of tabs inwards and the armrest lifts out.. is that correct? If so, how do I then disconnect the phone cradle or at least remove from exsisting armrest (still connected), then install into the new one.? Or if it's any easier.. just how to swap over the lids?

Thanks in advance.

Plutoe, why are you wasting people's time with your silly replies to almost every posting? If you don't know the answer to the problem raised by a member, just stay quiet.
Could the administrator have a look at the activities of this guy?
I am sorry if I sound a little rude. But enough is enough.

This forum covers many many many different models, engines, trims, coupes, sedans.

For example: Just the M271 engine alone has ?6-12? different variations, depending on country, etc. And, my guess is that less than 10% of the people in this forum have an M271 engine.

So, people can waste their time, the time of the poster, and the time of everyone reading the forums by guessing.
Or, people like Plutoe can ask them to post the most basic information about their car.

Also, when/if people do post their VIN, Plutoe has often helped and replied. And, many times, he's the only one that replies.

Just my two cents...

Our cars, like most MBs are very VERY VIN and BUILD DATE specific.
I agree...if you want help - you need to supply supporting and basic information to obtain quality results.

I applaud anyone who helps, uses VIN and FIN to locate REAL information to help the poster and the community.

I, for one, am shocked how many people don't use the tools here (car, signature, etc.) to inform us to be able to better help.
((Why we can't see the "car I drive" anymore under our avatar and we see "THANKS" now is beyond me...I don't need a thank you, or number of posts - I need year, model, etc...))

(I also think most people that want to wrench on their car should pick up a WIS CD or other basic (dare I say Haynes) form of maintenance literature...)
