Had it towed to dealer and they ordered a new key. That worked and in fact the old key started working again. For a week.

Same thing happened and now neither the old or new key will get any response from the ignition.

sounds more like a steering/ignition module issue than a key. The module is probably about to go...
when you put the key into the ignition, do you hear a mechanical "sliding" noise like the key is "communicating" with the ignition and unlocking the steering wheel?

in that case it'd be a w204 not a 205. And maybe the luck should be intended for the op who asked the question not the person who tried to answer. Now, both of you don't make sense...
