Radio Antenna?

I have a 2002 C240 which came with an Alpine after market radio. The radio reception is horrible even though there is and antenna cable connected.

Could anyone please tell me what this goes to? Is it a windscreen antenna?

Actually all I really need is to find out where the antenna end of the cable goes to. I'm thinking I will just install and antenna but it would be so much easier if I didn't have to snake the cable all through the car.

Thanks

C230 Sport Coup + 2006 W164 ML350 + 99 Ford Escort (What the heck, it gets 38 mpg!)
Antenna is in the rear window, and there's an amplifier too also located right there as well.
Also is responsible to remote door opening and locking. So if thats working ok, then there's something with the radio.
I put a FM emulator on mine built in, that goes behild the radio. So now i can listen to mp3's but my reception went to poop.

So..if your keys don't unlock well, could be the antenna amp, or not making good contact.
Photos are from coupe, but sedan is similar. Maybe someone else can chime in.
I sold 3 of these on ebay. 2 came from broken windows I broke with my bike rack...
that's another story.

Thanks for the reply. I got a tip from another member and to take out the SAMS and clean them. Locks work fine now.

AND...I got a great work-around for the radio reception. I plug in my phone and use an app to get all the stations I want. And the quality of the AM news station I listen to is fantastic. I can also get any station online, so I can listen to the Icelandic Classic Hip Hop station if I want do (but I don't) (-:

Hey whats the name of that app?
I guess it's using the data to stream the radio, or does it use radio? Didn't think the phones had that built in.
Also, wow, hadn't heard about the issue with the SAMS. What exactly did you clean?

The SAMS are relays. In my case the remote door /trunk locks and wipers were not working. The door locks do work now but only once in a while. The wiper problem (they park in the wrong place) was not fixed this way. I think it's the wiper motor.

Yes, these apps use cellular data, same as if you were using Google, maps, email, etc.

The ones I got are called Radio FM, Blues Music and myTuner. The last one is great because it combines AM and FM stations which you can put in your "favorites". list and select them pretty much as you would press a button on the car radio. I also use a separate app just for my local AM news station so I get launch the station right away and not have to deal with another menu.

Cheers

actually, i'd ask someone else to do it because I'm really dumb when it comes to radio and antenna itself. last week I decided to purchase a new cb magnetic antenna, I purchased the best suitable option I discщvered in the article on https://www.palmgear.com/best-magnet...tenna-reviews/, however I didn't actually know how to install it and make it work. Thanks to my husband who explained that it's magnetic and really easy and convenient to use. Moreover, I've learnt that it is actually really performative and in comparison with the old one I used to have is much better.
