Just to clarify did you buy BOTH a car battery and a battery for your key fob?

This is why you MUST either disconnect the battery or trickle charge the w203 when you park it long term. If you let the battery die in the car and voltage drops slowly it will corrupt the memory in some of it's computer modules and your car will become an expensive paperweight. There is really no way of knowing where the damage is without connecting it to an MB specific diagnostic tool.
