2001 C320
Question Hello

Hello, I need a little help, actually, a LOT of help.

I have a neighbor that has a 2001 C320. She bought it over a year ago, used it for about a month and left it in the garage, sitting!! She said, “I haven’t turned it on since”.
She asked me if I could help her get the car to turn on. I said, I can try. Well, there’s several issues. For one, I have never worked on Benz, only on American cars. Two, I have never worked on a car that’s been sitting for over a year.

So what I’ve done so far. I tried to turn it on, dead! Battery didn’t charge, so I got a new one. Installed it after removing the cover, which looks like it has some kind of filter on it.
So good so far, checked the oil, still has oil and shows the right amount. It has antifreeze, ok, time to start it up and it turns but does not turn on. Ok, so go to start it and she says, oh, it doesn’t have gas, ohhh okkkkk. So we put about a gallon she had in the garage for her lawn mower. I try to start it again and it turns but does not turn on.

Do I need to replace plugs? Or what should I do to get it to turn on. I attached a picture of the console.
Suggestions?

Service B??

Its still just a car. Is the check engine light on? This would give you an indication. If it is you would have to get a OBDII reader for basic codes. If the CEL light is not on then I would suggest simply adding more gas, at least a couple of gallons. Does the fuel pump turn on when you put the key in position II for a moment before you crank? you could check for fuel deliver by looking under the hood. Remove the air filter and check the fuel rails, there will be a knurled screw cap covering a shrader type valve. Push it in to see if there is fuel pressure.

Yup check the fuel presuure, you can borrow for free at Oreily or Autozone,
pull the fuse from for the pump 1st, and turn over to remove any pressure or push the schader valve as mentioned, but to release all the pressure that way gets messy, unless of course there is none.
Fuel pump is in gas tank. left side, again tools available at Autozone for sure, for free to borrow.
Check the FP relay before doing any of that in the back I think, pn is around here somewhere, I wrote a thread a couple years ago when mine failed.

Then put the fuse back.
Fuses are located in left front dash panel pops out, under the hood, and in the left rear inside the trunk.
Spare fuses would have originally been included with spare tire.
Fuse diagram in left panel or download here.
Check OBD codes, see what they mean,
plugs not a likely source of problem,
it ran before, it would still run even if they're crap.
Other car killer is the CPS crankshaft position sensor, located rear of engine.
So read codes, see if you have fuel pressure,
go from there.
CPS can fail and throws NO codes,
hard to get at but only about 40 bucks at places like rmeuropean.com

Yes, defiantly put more fuel.
How many miles on the vehicle?

Hope that gas in the garage didn't have 2 stroke oil in it.

You want help, you don't give us much to work wth.
Why did she park it? Something wrong? Or just that service was due?
