2005 free service going away?

Has anyone heard anything of this? I have been in the market for a new 2005 C55 and am currently on hold. I spoke to my long-time sales person before he left the company and he mentioned that MB is thinking about dropping the free service and going back to regular paid maintenance. I inquired why this was since all the competitors still offer free service. He said that with the flexible service at 10k and free basic service, people were bringing their cars in more often and costing MB a lot of money\headaches. He thought that they would move to a 13-15k service model and pay-per-service (minus defective items covered under warranty). Has anyone heard the same thing or similar? Just curious...

That sounds like BS to me. What dealer allows you to bring your car in more often than FSS allows for a free service? Not mine. They did it for one reason only, the dollar is very weak against the Euro and they are trying to save a few bucks.

Seriously consider taking your money elsewhere if they won't give you free service. There are extremely high maintenance vehicles, I never would have bought mine without the free maintenance, free MB service loaners and free car washes. When that's up, so is the car.

you still get the free MB loaners (at participating dealers only) and the free coffee/donuts

just that you have to pay for the service just like the old days when MB didn't have free maintenance included.

What are you talking about? They are dropping free service in 2005...it's all MB dealers direct from MBUSA its not a dealer choice.
