Reset "Low Coolant" warning
Need some help. My lower radiator hose blew and I replaced it and used 2.5 gallons of 50/50 coolant to refill the system. I'm still getting the low coolant warning. How much coolant should my 2006 C280 take? If I have enough in it how do I reset the warning?
Thanks for th help in advance,
Bob

Coolant capacity is 7.1 liters (7.5 qts.). With engine cold, coolant level in the expansion tank should be at the point where the translucent lower part of the tank meets the black plastic upper portion of the tank.
The warning you're getting could also mean that your coolant level sensor is malfunctioning or disconnected.
I've also read that the engine coolant level sensor is on the same circuit as the washer fluid level sensor, and as bizarre as this sounds, low washer fluid can trigger the same warning. Might also want to check that out.

Yup, what he said. Also make sure no bubbles in the system...
Run with the cap off for a while, till the thermostat opens and the then top it up.
Check the wires for sensor...assuming it's on the bottle...not really sure.

Thanks guys. had to run for a while with the cap off and then top it off for the heat to come back and light to go off.
All good now.
Thanks again,
Bob

All's well that ends well. Yeah, in my younger days, swapped a water pump on a Toyoyo PU in a parking lot, topped up the water and drove off.
Immediately overheated, wtf? yeah, you gotta run with the cap off, wait for the thermostat to open, and refill.
Yup. Been there done that.
