BUYING A 05 C240 4MATIC WAGON
Hi, I'm new to the Mercedes world and I am seriously thinking of buying a 2005 c240 4matic station wagon with 91,000 miles. The car is silver with a dark black/grey interior and in very nice condition. I'm coming from the BMW world and I'm tired of all the electrical gremlins associated with BMW. Does the C240 have electrical gremlin issues? all brands of cars have some issues and expected but, BMW is way higher then normal and would you guys say that it's nothing to worry about for merc's? What should i look for when looking at a mercedes to buy? oil, color of trans fluid and anything else to look for? Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks,

The c240 was pretty well sorted by 05 with an updated interior. I wouldn't expect too many surprises. I would suggest taking it to an MB specialist for an inspection up on a lift and having it hooked up to Star or icarsoft diagnostic to check for codes throughout the car. Also keep in mind that the c240 4matic wagon is just about the slowest w203 you can buy in the US. 0-60 in about 10 sec and you'll be lucky to see over 20mpg... Ever

Regarding the mileage, we've never gotten below 20 mpg in ours. Not sure where the above quote is coming from. Yes, it's not as fuel efficient as our 2001 C320 but we normally get 21-24 mpg with the C240 even with the hills in SF.
