Are AGM Batteries A Better Bang For $$ Than Flooded Acid Batteries?

I have 3 cars that need a battery each-2 x H8, and a H6. None has what I call Camry friendly price-i.e. south of 90 bux. It's inevitable that I pick one for a C240. So I have been shopping for deals and found the Wally EverMaxx @ $122. I have had good luck with Evermaxx lasting 7-8 years in a Camry (a DD) and a BMW Z3 (a garage queen.) I just don't know how the demand placed on this battery by a C240 needs would affect it's lifetime/durability.

Has anyone used these Evermaxx in their MB C class? What's your educated opinion or experience on expected life AKA durability?

Conversely, I found an ACDelco AGM at $199 on AMZN. Are AGM batteries that much better than conventional flooded acid batteries?

yes they are. But ya know... my C240 2005 still has the original flooded battery. It is getting week but like wow it still works. Are you going to keep your car long enough to see the added benefit of an AGM? All our W203s are now over 10 years old. Mine has 240K Km on it, rear suspension links need replacing (have to lower the entire rear end) Lovely car but... up here in Canada 12 years is long for a car, to survive our winter salt.

your prices seem good.. whats the diff? couple cases of beer?

That's the thing-keep it long enough to realize the benefits of an AGM-pro'ly wifey's C240 with 72k miles, she drives 3 miles to work. I will stick an AGM in it, like you said it's just a couple cases of beer.

I am a new MB C240 owner. How are you able to tell that your rear suspension links need replacing? Does it clunk when you go over bumps or just noisy like bushings are worn out, dusty or rubbing against rusted, dusty metals?

apart from the steering ball joints, the rear is a multiple link configuration too and the bushing can wear just like the fronts. You also have the sway bar links. You will hear a clunking as you go over bumps and the suspension is unloaded. The upper links are hard to get to and you have to drop the rear end. I have been putting off doing mine because of that. The rear alignment may also go out. The rear springs also do break and that is a slightly different clunking sound. You can inspect broken springs, they break at the bottom.

You can try something: losen one side lower shock bolt, then drive around, you hear what the clunking sounds like! it is quite loud!
