Heated Seat Wiring Harness
Heated Seat Wiring Harness
I recently had my lower seat cushion replaced in my 2001 C240. The new seat cushion came with installed heating element, but the car does not have the heated seat option. I looked at threads on this forum and understand that I can hook the heating element up with a console for the row above the radio (that includes the emergency flasher switch) and a new cable wiring harness. I purchased a used console with the heated seat switches for $30 and priced the cable harness with my local MB dealer for $100. Before I buy the cable harness, can anyone tell me if this is really a plug and play solution? I see that there are two fuses related to the heated seats, 25 and 41. There is a fuse holder and fuse in the 41 location but no fuse holder in the 25 location. Does this fuse holder come with the wiring harness? Also, I did not have the seat cushion on the back of the seat replaced, so there is no heating element for that part of the seat. Is this a problem having only the lower seat cushion with a heater? I replaced my old cassette radio with a Car-Play Pioneer unit so I am not worried about replacing the console with the new one. Any input is welcome! Thanks.
Follow up to the above post: I purchased the wiring harness for heated seats for a 2001 C240 and it does come with the fuse that gets mounted in the interior fuse box. However, I hooked everything up to the driver side lower heater, and the switches don't light up to indicate the seat is heating, and the seat does not heat. I put a meter on each of the four connectors to the heaters and no voltage when I activate the switches. Does anyone know if all four seat heaters are required for it to work, or alternately if both heaters are required for one seat to work? I can't seem to find any info on this.
Bump. Having the exact same issue in my w210 heated seat swap.
I think I'm probably gonna have to run some power to that switch or something. I'm gonna try some things tomorrow, I'll let ya know if I get it sorted out.
