Coupe weighs more than Sedan?
can someone please explain to me why this is?
i just read the 2004 booklet and it says that the coupe (auto) weights 3,280lb while the sedan weights only 3,230lb.
i would think that the sedan weights more since it is a 4 door vs. the 2 door coupe.
any comments will be great. thanks!

Tuscanraider was just kidding.
The coupe weighs more mostly because its about the same size as the sedan, but has more solid parts. If it was smaller, then a weight deficit would be in order.
Hope that helps.

On the German Mercedes websites an automatic C230K sedan weighs 1510kg (~3320 lbs), while an automatic C230K coupe weighs 1490 kg (~3280 lbs). For the sedan, I think MBUSA just screwed up the metric to US conversions, or alternatively, made a typographical error that transposed 3320 into 3230.

The coupe should actually weigh more. It has the hatch with that big glass panel in it, as well as the weight of the glass in the roof and supports needed to strengthen the roof because of that glass panel. Even if the coupe comes without the Pano roof it would still have those supports in there and thus added weight.

I'd bet all of the weights listed in brochures and websites are for pana-roofless coupes. (The weight of the pana-roof is a whole other point of contention on this board.)

Even though the coupe has three doors vs. the sedan's four, the coupe's doors are much longer than the sedan's front doors. Also, the third door (hatch), is a LOT heavier than the sedan's trunk lid.
