salvaged car
New to the forum, And let me begin by thanking all the contributors to this great forum. My dilemma is what to do...
my car (2003, C320 sedan) was just totaled. The driver, rear passenger door and top air bags were deployed. Just wondering,
is it worth keeping the car replacing the doors (salvaged yard) and air bags and how difficult is it to do it. Thinking of the doing the work
myself (I am in California). Thanks in advance.
The frame looks good. The driver side door has a little damage at the lower right. The rear door took mos of the impact middle and below.
What I am trying to do is getting both doors with the air bags from a salvaged yard and getting the curtain air bag and installing them
myself. My concern how big of a risk I am taking in that the computer recognizes the new air bags for the California Highway Patrol inspection .
Thanks

A couple doors won't cost much if that's all that's damaged.
Go to car-parts.com and find the exact color, you won't even need to paint them.
LKQ will ship from anywhere in the US to the location closest to you for FREE, and
you can pick it up.
I replaced my rear hatch after 2 incidents, 1st was a small fender bender, got paid for that,
but just kept driving until the rear window got broken.
Got the whole hatch for ~450 in the same color.
Have a thread here somewhere, with photos.
Pretty hilrarious, plastic in the windows, and
a pallet on the roof racks to haul the new hatch (which didn't fit in the end)
...so ghetto till I got it installed.
I have read about some fuse or something that needs to be replaced somewhere in the vehicle once the
airbags are deployed but can be DIY'd. Hopefully someone will chime in on that.
Some module that need to be opened up, and have a shunt replaced or something.
And the ircarsoft is only like 100 bucks to reset the SRS.and is just the best for the $$
tool ever invented for these cars, and will serve you well into the future.
Post some photos of the damage.
