Missing a piece!

Can anyone help me out? I think I'm missing a piece under the shift knob console. I pulled the piece up and there is foam around the shift gate. Is this right? Cause the console piece has plastic bits that have hooks which look like they're suppose to lock into something. If anyone can lift the shift knob piece and let me know if there is another piece under there or take a pic of it I would really appreciate it.

The foam's normal, I've lifted my auto tranny boot a few times before. The plastic clips on the base are to hold the boot against the trim, there's no locking parts on the trim side at all. It's mostly held by friction, that's what makes it so easy to lift up in the first place.

Thanks for the reply. The console piece at the bottom towards the slider has hooks. Seems odd to have them there if they don't clip into anything.
