2002 C230 Coupe
Just finished installing the AMG sway bars and did a test drive. The improvement is really night and day differenct! Here are my notes:

1. Not sure about the C240 sedan, but for the C230 Coupe, only the 2 sway bars and the 2 sets of bushings are needed. And the torque for all the bolts is 20 ft-lb.

2. The front U-brackets for my car use torx bolts (need a E14 torx nut to remove) instead of the 6mm hex nut bolts shown in the instructions posted earlier. The torx nut size for the rear brackets bolts are E10.

3. The part number for the front bushings (203-323-16-85) in the instructions is no longer valid. The new part number is 203-323-22-85.

According to my understanding, changing to a bigger mount without changing to bigger sized screws helps nothing, because the screws are the ones that carrying the most stress, not the brackets.

Patronus,

What dealer did you get these prices from? I just went to my local dealer and the prices are much higher....

Also, is this the complete list of parts for a C320?

Thanks in advance!

phattbam,

Yes, we are all free to express our opinion. I will not judge you for yours, thanks for not judging me for mine.

Now, for the part numbers:

FRONT ASSEMBLY:
203-323-31-65 - Bar-front - $70.30
203-323-16-85 - Rubber mount (bushing) - $4.40 (2)
203-323-11-40 - Bracket - $11.50
203-323-12-40 - Bracket - $11.50
203-323-21-89 - Rod - $47.18 (2)
913023-012002 - Nut - $2.40 (4)
002-990-39-22 - Screw - $1.25 (4)

REAR ASSEMBLY:
203-326-00-81 - Rubber mount (bushing) - $7.60 (2)
203-326-15-65 - Bar-rear - $74.93

The screws are not absolutely necessary if you are very careful with the screws as you remove them from the front bushing assemblies. I used them because a couple of mine got bunged-up.

Good luck!

MBCA members, don't forget to mention this to your sales department: many provide discounts. I just ordered a set of AMG bars from my dealer, ASC in Arlington, VA. It was after the order was already completed over the phone that I mentioned this to the clerk - and voila! 10% off, no further questions asked.

dealers will vary in their pricing. my normal dealer is on the high end but i called another local dealer and their prices were as good as clairparts. call around and good luck.

I ordered a couple of AMG sway bars here in Canada for some US owners, even with shipping, the total is less expensive than getting it from the US.

The prices I qouted were from MB of Portland (Oregon). I think I could have done better at Caliber Motors or Fletcher Jones 800 number parts by 10-20%.

Thanks young and patronus for the reply. I will check around to see who has the best prices in the bay area.
