The seals on the expansion valve maybe leaking ???.. Just did a complete re-build on my AC.. When replacing the compressor, the expansion valve and condenser/drier ( plus seals ) should also be replaced..

An AC unit that gets super cold and freezes up is low on refrigerant... It sounds like that maybe your problem.. You smelled the leak, now your low , so now you can only run it for a short period of time before it freezes up.. You need to get some gauges on it if you plan on fixing it yourself...

That's exactly what DAS should be showing you if your AC is switched on. That means the problem is in the compressor, not the control system.
When the compressor was replaced, did they also flush the AC lines and replace the condenser? When this type of compression fails it's prone to something called "black death". Basically the compressor dumps a bunch of metal shavings into to the AC system as it fails internally and turns the oil black. When you replace the compressor it's very important to clean out all the AC line and make sure none of that metallic garbage is left inside the system. If it is the old metal particles will murder your new compressor. A symptom of a dying compression is intermittent AC. Check your bill or ask the AC shop if they flushed the lines and replaced the condenser (condenser can't be flushed, only replaced). The installation manual for the new Denso compressor will tell you the same thing.

Oh, come on. Didn't anyone else notice the "40C and 100% humidity" readings??
Btw, that's not right. The Humidity reading is likely wrong. And, humidity readings in general are "questionable" in accuracy - even with the best instruments.
For those of us used to Imperial units 40C is 104F. :-O
Iirc, the highest dewpoint recorded (with official instruments) was ~~95F.

A/C stopped cooling, radiator fan spins at maximum speed on start up
My 2012 C300 Sport has just gone 100K miles without any major issues; wonderful car to own and drive. Recently, the a/c has stopped cooling and at the same time, the radiator fan has been running at max speed on start up, regardless of engine temp or even when the a/c is off. Checked the coolant level, all good. Checked the refrigerant pressure using the A/C Pro gauge and the pressure was very high, (way past the green zone). I do not have sophisticated diagnostic tools but know how to turn wrenches and have replaced a common suspect part --- the coolant temp sensor. Access to this part was quite challenging, to say the least. You will cut up your hand badly. Wearing gloves makes access even more difficult. To make a long story short, this didn't solve the problem. Any suggestions before I go to the next step and have the a/c system evacuated and recharged?

MaroBenz i am having the same issue. Purchased a 2012 C 300 used with 65K. I have experienced similar issues with my car. I have discovered that when the air "stops" working I can spray the radiator with a water hose and the fan goes back to normal operation and the A/C will work again. Seems like a sensor issue but I don't know. The problem only happens when i let the car sit in the heat all day (not running on 90+ days) and then try to start it. I'm assuming the pressure is building somewhere and cooling things with the hose will allow normal operation. Once it's running, it continues normal operation unless i shut down the engine and let the car build heat. After an hour of sitting I will have the same problem.
