Hello All, I've been moving forward preparing the New to me 2001 C240 for my daughter. Thanks to all who have helped so far with info. I have done the Trans service(dark fluid, no burning, no particulate) 4 Qt, filter, gasket. Rear end gear oil change(Messy!) gotta get a pump. Oil change.
During the work I found some oil residue underneath, minor, it looks like slight leak blow back accumulation over time. Under the hood I found this:
I think this is the breather, leaking from the seal? I have seen post relating the hose failing, but this look like the seal. Has anyone encountered this? I look like a straight forward gasket change. Does anyone have any insight on this fix? The rest of the topside is dry, although dirty, there is some spillage around the oil fill, sloppy filling I presume.
Also, I want to change the serpentine belt, does anyone know the recommended interval?(I'm mainly concerned about its age) It looks ok and makes know noise. But...
Also, does anyone have the Maintenance schedule for the 2001 C240 to share? I'm having trouble finding it.
