Need help cleaning ITG air filter?
a few months ago I took off my ITG filter and now I want to install it again. I washed it with the K&n cleanner but I did no use the oil because somebody in this forum told me not to do it. Please advise on what to do to clean it and where can I buy the oil or the special cleaner for this filter.
My car is 2002 C230 and I installed the filter two years ago.
Thanks for anyones help in advance.

use a 50/50 mix of simple green and water....spray this on, then use a toothbrush to get the gunk off
rinse by submersing it in clean water (several times) then air dry

Wow, you must drive your car a lot because the ITG filters don't need cleaning but every 50K or 100K miles. But since you took the steps to clean it you should get the proper oil from ITG for their foam filters, not K&N oil designed for their fabric filter. Put the wrong oil on and at best it will not filter properly or filter too much and block airflow, at worst it can wipe out your MAF sensor with oil contamination. Their website probably has cleaning instruction.
I know your supposed to wait 50K miles but I cheated and cleaned the K&N on the Mustang at 45K miles last year. Sometimes I just spoil my cars.
