Clicking Flaps
I know this is a fairly common problem and there are lots of posts on the topic but here is what I want to know:
I had my car (2005 W203 C320 Auto) diagnosed and the following errors popped up:
1. Right Defroster Flap
2. Right Footwell Flap
3. Right Blending Air Flap
Although I only hear one clicking sound at start-up for about 30 seconds.
So my questions are:
1. What is the best way to identify the correct one making the noise without stripping. Would any setting and feeling for air movement be of any help?
2. Can I manually move all 3 to fully open or fully closed and then remove the power to the flaps if I want to save money on not replacing all 3 or are they well priced?
3. Which of the 3 are typically of causing a loud clicking noise for about 3 seconds after start-up?
4. Any posts or videos on how to get to each of them if I decide to do it myself?
Thanks a lot
Is there a way to access the power to the various flap motors at a different place where it is more accessible.
Surely the power has to come from either the fuse box or some main point?
If that is possible I can cut the power one-by-one to each of the flaps to localize the problem.
Else what about the temp sensors? I noticed that it is very easy to get to the temp senor for the footwell flap.
I just don't have any torx drivers else I would have removed the kickpanel under the glovebox and disconnected the
temp sensor to see if that made a diffrence.
Any other out the box ideas to cut power to the flaps?
Thanks again
