Hi,

C230 2007 manual 6 speed with sport brakes (AMG caliper)
I just replaced my struts with bilstein B4 -and mounts, also replaced the rubber top gasket. Kept the original springs. And now there is a gap between the top flange and that top gasket. Is this normal? see picture
The gap is on both sides same distance - approx 2 mm. The metal bracket and the top of the mount sits flush and is mounted as it should with the notches correctly positioned.




Thank you, I did tried to find previous posts about suspension and no one mentioned this, so I am thinking something is not right...

ditto... i asked the same question with a pic a while back... normal has to move.. they turn when you turn the steering.

 

Actually they don't rotate at all, the rotation happens below within the 2 mount parts - they have a bearing in between.

 

After installing PSS9 suspension I realize I have a gap on the top strut and the plate, I'm sure it's not normal as going over bumpy roads it feels loose and clonks.
can someone let me know if its suppose to have a gap or not.

its normal.. we just dont pay attention to it until AFTER we put things back together again!
