ESP Unit still humming when car is switched off
Good morning all,
For 5 days the ABS indicator light has been on when am driving. Yesterday while cleaning the car, i opened the hook and found out that the ESP unit is hot and has been humming while the car was off all night.
I use the Mercedes Benz C180 2006. I removed the battery and i have been scared to use the vehicle like that.
Please what do i need to do , as I have been using like that for days and didn't notice the sound while the car was parked.
Thanks

Remove the ABS fuse. Your user's manual should have that listed. Get a user manual for your car from MB, use the link in one of the stickies at the top of the forum.
The brakes will still work without the ABS unit.
The Bosch ABS units have been nearly bullet proof since their III series came out over 20 years ago!
But, all things can break. It sounds like the main unit is bad. You must read the codes with a MB coder reader.
Depending on how the ABS unit is located on your car, and what the error is, you may be able to just remove just the electronics module and have send it out to be fixed. So, no removing brake lines, bleeding brakes, etc.
Good Luck.

Thanks a lot, I was able to download the fuse box chart and I have removed the fuse for the ABS. The humming sound stopped.
I don't have to worry about it running down my battery.

I'm glad that you got that worked out.
I hope you get your ABS fixed. I know that for some people, they really don't need ABS.
I drive in heavy stop and go traffic,(and with my other cars) ice, snow, rain, etc. So, I need ABS.
