panoramic roof not working

panoramic roof not working
Hi I have a 2005 C220, I love the car but the roof is doing my head in. It worked fine for a while. Then it became slow to close. Next time I used it it opened fine and then when it closed made a large knocking sound from behind the interior light.
Removed the light and tried again. The motor on the left hand side knocks when trying to operate the roof. Finally just about stopped working and I had to assist the closing by turning the central Allen key socket.
I miss having a roof that opens (or closes) Please help
