My new project.....Pandora

I might need to have my head examined but I’m about resurrect a 2002 C320 that has been sitting for five years. Other than my wife’s GLK 350 (and touring the Mercedes museum in Stuttgart last year), I’m somewhat new to Mercedes so I thought I’d get some guidance from this site. What I do know is it has about 140k miles and was running fine with the exception of the car going into the limp mode. Rather than taking it to a reputable mechanic, the PO just parked the car and based on what they told me, I'm assuming the 13-pin transmission connector adapter was the problem. I'll have to wait until after I install a new battery and I’m able to pull the codes before I can determine if there are any other issues.

There are several small things I'll have to tackle later (i.e broken interior pieces, hood latch, and center console parts) but other than draining the gas tank, changing the engine oil and transmission fluid, and replacing all of the filters (cabin, oil, air, & fuel), is there anything else I need to check into?

The wiring appeared to be dry but I didn't have a chance to really check it out tonight. When I pulled the plug adapter out of the transmission, it dumped about two or three quarts of trans fluid. Luckily, I didn't take a trans fluid shower but it splattered about four feet in every direction. Tomorrow I'll take another look at the wiring when install the new adapter.

You're supposed to drain the transmission pan before pulling the 13 pin plug. The first thing to check is for ATF contamination in the TCM under the front passenger carpet.

I pulled the TCM tonight and it had a little bit of oil/fluid around the connector housing but the pins were clean. I found a manual from ATSG that included a trouble shooting guide to check the ohm values at the pins. On page 23, the specs calls for ohm values to range between 2.0 to 6.5 ohms but I was consistently seeing about 450 ohms on most of the pins. Does anyone else have an idea on how to check the TCM?

I've been able to make some headway on the car and was able to pull a long list of codes. The ones that concern me the most are:
P2211 - Selector lever is in an intermediate position
P2502 - Gear is implausible or the transmission is slipping
P2500 - Transmission has an impermissible transmission ratioB2775 - Interior verification (to theft deterrent ECU/smart key ECU)
B2795 - Unmatched key code

The intermediate position code may have been triggered when we were trying to shift the transmission to neutral. I was trying to push in the button on the lower right of the shifter and probably broke it so I'll have to figure how to test it to determine if I have to replace the shifter assembly.

Besides the potential of having a bad TCM and/or transmission, bad key, and possibly broken shifter assembly, I'm thinking I may have a wiring issue. When I removed the panel under the steering column, I found this wiring harness (with brown wires) dangling down along with the two wires (brown & white) on the right. Does anyone have a clue what it is any why anyone would have disconnected them?
