![Question](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
Since MB Canada does not include shipping or PDI in the initial vehicle price it seems that this gives the dealers the opportunity to charge whatever they want. After talking to a friend on the west coast it seems this is very much the case and the dealer can quote different charges (for the same type vehicle) to different customers depending on what he feels he can get away with.
These inflated delivery/PDI/other charges can make an extra profit margin for the dealer that is not deserved.
The interesting thing about this is MB Canada will not say what they charge the dealer for delivery or PDI and says that each dealer can charge what he feels is appropriate. The opportunity
for the dealer to make some extra profit is enormous.
My questions to the Canadians on this board is -
1. What city did you purchase your coupe in ?
2. What was the delivery charge ?
3. What did the dealer charge for PDI (pre-delivery inspection) ?
4. Were there any other hidden charges ?

Toronto
Freight was $1200 (what a scam)
$100 for PDI (can't recall, it wasn't much though)
No hidden charges
I guess the freight price was worth paying since my GF only had to wait 3 days to get the car exactly the way she wanted.
In comparison, I just bought a 2002 BMW M3 in Toronto as well.
Freight was $400
PDI was $75
You'd figure BMW would rape you on stuff like that, but the $400 freight charge was PRINTED on the invoice (not written in by the salesperson).
For more reference, the Toyota Matrix my friend is looking at has a Freight charge of $800.

Calgary:
Freight + PDI was 1,550.00 CAD + g.s.t., feels like a rip-off.
Off-topic, but got the CD chager for 340CAD instead of 830CAD.

MB coupe.
Kamloops dealer
Ordered mine in Kamloops at end of February.
Freight and PDI was $1550, and two were lumped together. This included floor mats, block heater, and a tank of gas.
They had an enormous documentation fee that included having the car windows etched with the VIN for security reasons. I think they tried me on for $400 for this package.
We settled for no window vandalism, and a $95 doc fee.
It took a month of ****ing around for them to agree to my trade in value on my '97 Prelude. Then the deal was done.
Supposed to arrive about May 15th.

Damn, that's friggin' nuts how much you guys paid for Freight and PDI.
My GF got the CD Changer for $400 something too, but she only paid $1300 Freight and PDI combined.
I guess it has to do with my negotiation skills.
She got a free Mercedes Benz Teddy Bear too. =)

2005 smart cabrio; 2008 Mercedes-Benz B 200
Freight/PDI
At Three Point Motors in Victoria the cost of these combined is $1500 CDN + GST.
I console myself with the fact that the car is a whole lot cheaper ($4000 US) in Canada than it is either in Europe or the USA, even at MSRP.
