Radio Reception Problem update, need help

I have taken my car into the dealer a few times for bad reception on FM. The last trip the "R&R Antenna Amplifier, Clean all contact points." The problem has gotten a bit better on some stations and worse on others. Today while searching the forums I tried to "press in" the antenna to the rear glass with no success. Finally I was wondering if it was something else and started to futz with the HU.

When I moved the sound all the way to the front in ambient mode it only came from the center speater (The same area as the windshield vent). When I turned off the Driver/Speech/Ambient modes and had it full front there was no sound at all.

My question is this, is that normal? I assume no.

If not, could I have a bad HU and then that could be causing the reception problems?

Thanks for all the help guys and gals.

It's not about sound quality, more about reception quality.

Plus, if there is no sound in the front, that seems to point to a bigger problem that I may not fix with an audio10 at which point my dealer will not touch under warranty because of my futzing with it.

Thanks though.

P.S. I would get a COMAND instead
