I have a 2004 Toyota highlander v6 with a little over 237,000 miles. I noticed small problems before i got ran off the road a few weeks ago but was told that was just a bad catalytic converter not a huge deal so i was told. Then i i was forced off the road and guy never even stopped. I hit the side of a driveway connected to a ditch doing 35ish mph and somehow managed to not total my car and was able to drive away with no IMMEDIATE issues. The next day i had extreme loss of power, strong vibrations especially when stopping and accelerating. I brought the car into a shop being rented to the owner by a family friend for a complete check to make sure no damage was done i could not see or notice. No axel damage was done and actually nothing at all was done damage wise except a cracked motor mount, i also had them go a head and replace the spark plugs and wires since i knew they needed it. The issues honestly got worse upon replacing the plugs and wires. I took it back to have it looked at again since it had obviously gotten worse. I was then told it seems like my torque converter was failing possibly but i did not have the money to find the exact cause or to even fix it. over this time recently it has gotten much worse especially if i drive the vehical a long time. Ill explain it this way its so bad i wont even put my child into the car anymore because it feels that bad im scared. Passengers seem to not be able to feel what i mean EXCEPT for the jerk when the vehical shifts at times. This is a full list of symptoms im now having... 1. loss of power(more extreme at times) 2. strong vibration especially while coming to a stop in low gears and while accelerating and when first starting up the vehicle. I can even feel it in the gas pedal and steering wheel. 3. Jerking occasionally when shifting seems to happen more if im trying to baby the car and trying to speed up slow. 4. When accelerating car makes loud revving noise and rpms are high when this occurs but i am not punching the gas so to say. 5.When i let off the gas expecting my car to coast 95% of the time the car instantly slows down(even going down a hill) and feels like im applying the brake even though im not even touching it. 6.Im not sure if this is even a issue or if im crazy but my heat gage does go up but it is SO slight that im not sure if it is even an issue or symptom(it rests normally on a line marked and the most it will go up is not even halfway to the next line)but i have i think noticed it goes up that TINY bit when the car jerks mainly. 7. Had codes read when light was on several times (engine light vsc light and trac off light will come on nd then go off for ashort while like a few days at a time) only code ever popped up was for my catalytic converter every single time checked. Have no idea why the other two lights come on at the same time EVERYTIME engine light comes on. 8. I never have bad looking tans fluid when i check it daily nor is it ever low. 9.Coolant was gone with no noticable leaking but has not gone down at all since i put more in over a week ago. 10. Steering wheel makes noise but does not feel strange minus the vibration that i feel while stopping and accelerating. 10. Newest problem is a popping noice coming from front eend while starting stopping. 11. When turning onto new street from a stop it feels like im hitting a bump that is not thre also while driving even on smooth roads it will feel like im riding over bumps at times not a;l the time though. The only other thing i can remember if im even forgetting anything is that my car seems to just feel relly hot compared to others after i get out and have shut it off but like i said the heat gage nevr goes up much at all if it does at all. also even if i let it sit for a period that the car should need to warm up again the heat gage is where is normally is when it is done warming up after being started the first time each morning. Im sorry this is so long im just trying to be as detailed as possible praying someone can atleast give me some advice on what it could be, i know this is defiantly multiple issues combined and it will be costly in repairs if its not something we can fix on the lift ourselves such as the transmission issue. I just really need someone to tell me along with what it could be if i need to stop driving this car untill i can get it fixed. i know the miles are high but the engine sounds great and seems fine it starts great and doesnt make any noise that worries me while in park or when idling at a stop. it doesnt even vibrate when at a complete stop but does when in park especially while warming up first start of the day, i say that because it was not like that when i first got the car 6 months ago. OH ALSO when started first time of the day while warming up or after sitting for a **** at work its idling almost at 2 pms untill warming up some. ALSO when i let off the gas 95% of the time the rpms drop to 1 or maybe a smidge above that which leads into the issue i mentioned earlier when it instantly feels like im braking even going downhill and without even touching the brake pedal. Im not sure if this next concern is even an issue or if i just never noticed untill this car due to the issues but when at a stop but in drive the car idles at 1 or sometimes under 1 rpms. Ok now that ive told all the things ive noticed and wrote a novel can someone please try to help me out, I really need to atleast make it to my 26th bday next month so i can afford full coverage again and get a car off the lot IF i have to or fix things i can if someone thinks that it could possibly make it untill tax time where i can sell this as is and buy another vehical or either have the money to do whatever is so expensive that i have to get done then. I do love this car when it runs right, I really unless forced to dont like danything except suvs or trucks and i really like how this came with built in jbl speakers even though thats not a priority ine i guess i just want to know if anyone thinks this car is worht saving at all. I only spent 1000 on it and all suvs ive looked into getting were more expensive with over 2000 miles on them. PLEASE I NEED ADVICE!!!
