Is Paint Covered Under Warranty?
I've had my car for about 1.5 years and am becoming more and more convinced that the peeling of the paint on my hood around the perimeter of the grille is a defect in the paint job unrelated to regular wear and tear. (My wife's 1998 rodeo is almost flawless in that area in that's our beater!).
This pic should give you an idea.
What do you guys think? Is this covered under the warranty? If the dealer agrees, they'd simply send me to a body shop for repainting correct?

That looks like stone chipping to me, but I would have someone check it out just in case. However, it will be very hard to get MBUSA to cover something like that as it is a very "Grey" area in the warranty!!!

no thats not covered. thats pit marks from driving, normal wear and tear. if it faded from the sun maybe, or peeling when it shouldnt that i can understand. not from normal everyday driving.

It's absolutely not covered under warranty but what you can do is put a claim in under your comprehensive insurance. Say you drove through a sand storm and all that damage happened at once (if it's not all at once you'll have to pay your deductible multiple times so this is key). Pay your deductible and they will sand/paint the entire front of your car. Do it once and you'll probably be OK, do it twice and they'll likely jack up your rates or cancel you. It will happen again unless you put a clear bra on. I did on my S-10 that I take off road and I don't have any chips.

I had mine for 14 months on my bright red truck and I don't see any difference since new. Linh has a silver SLK with the clear bra for a few years and it still looks good. It may yellow over time, a few years maybe but on your car that will only enhance the color

I've had a Clear Bra for over two years
/35,000 miles, and it's normally garaged. No discoloration at all.The edge is sometimes visible if the car's dirty, but otherwise no downside to speak of.
My car's silver:other paint colors might be more revealing as to the ClearBra's presence. It is still a lot better than paint chips all over the front clip.

Basically if you could organize enough people to complain you'll get your car repainted. The newest Nissan Sentras had BAD paint that chipped all the time, they changed it within a year after repainting several people's cars that continually complained.
My hood looks like the moon right now, and the impact strips are virtually destroyed from rocks. BUT, the bumper still looks great. I hope the nano-paint fixes this and when my car is repainted, a clear bra is a must.

My 2003 CL55 has the new nano clear and it is leaps and bounds better than the non nano clear. In 1.5 years I have less rock chips, almost none to be exact than I had on my 2001 CL in just a few months.

MB's paint sux! My kompressor is only a few months old & it has quite a few chips already , should have put a Clear Bra on Day One. I might still do it.
Citron
Can you put a Clear Bra on a repainted surface ? I through I read where you couldn't.
