The pix didn't/don't work for me, but follow the written instructions and you should be fine. Make sure you buy a real Torx T-20 screw driver, not some all in one screw driver with adapters, if you have your little adapter fall inside your door, you just made a 10-15 min job turn into a 1-2 hour one
(i.e. you have to now rip your door panels off).Same thing goes with the one and only screw which holds the cap/handle in place, make sure you use masking tape to hold the screwdriver and screw in place when you have the cap off. If that little screw falls out it's a big problem (door panel city again).

Now anyone know where / who has got the cheapest prices for matched body-paint door handle parts ???

Wow...$185 and I thought the $155 CAD I got quoted was retarded. If you opt for the this option, you don't need to program the new sensor since you can simply use your old one. And you could create a unique (if not expensive) key chain out of the extra unprogrammed sensor
.Also nice to know us 2002-2003ers have something we can gloat over :p, I'll be sure to point out this deficiency to any friends of mine that buy the 2004 hehehe.
I'd be curious to know what you get charged to paint the cap, and how well it matches the factory paint.

finally got my door handle parts to match my car's body color (Brilliant Silver -Code 9744). The Passenger & Driver's door handles I was able to get from the dealer at $40 each. The Driver's side CAP, I also got from the dealer at $20.00. The Passenger's side CAP however, I opted to have it painted-to-match. MBSD recommended Tri-City Paint in Mira Mesa (San Diego), CA. Turns out, they don't actually do the painting, but their courteous staff got me the right code-matched MB metallic paint, put it into a spray can (with all the extra in a 1 pt can), recommended some automotive industrial primer and some UV protected clear coat finish. All for $64.00 (incl tax). So off I went to do it myself. Turned out to be really easy, and the paint did all the work for me. It came out perfect, and matches the door handles and the rest of the car immaculately.
Here are some before & after pics:

- Driver's door handle 211-760-15-70-xxxx
- Driver's side Cap 203-766-03-35-xxxx
- Passenger's door handle 211-760-16-70-xxxx
the xxxx is the paint color code. In my case (Brilliant Silver) it was 9744.
9197 is obsidian black. So all in all, my $64 paint job (about 1 hours worth of time), is much better than the $120+ I would have spent on a Passenger's side Cap with IR sensor, that would have turned into a useless keychain. Plus, now I'm an expert at small paint jobs. Next up: my headlight rings.

I got mine finished too
, and I can vouch for those part #'s too. They are 100% correct. Again, I opted to nuke the passenger side IR sensor and just buy the passenger side cap WITHOUT the IR hole (part number previously mentioned). All I can say, is for those that don't have the matched handles....it's TOTALLY worth it. The car looks way nicer and really cleans the look of the car up. Plus you will get a chance to polish out all those finger nail scratches in the area under the handles (put there presumably by all the hot chicks you've been riding with

headlight rings?

so I'm thinking of doing the same when I get my BiX, painting the rings Brilliant Silver to match.
What do you think ???
a while ago i asked the dealer to replace the door handles with chrome ones so they ordered them in and they were guna install them but told me the next day the parts did not fit so i was wondering what the hell was going on and just forgot about the door handles until now
any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated
I can't believe someone just doesn't do it and post pictures.
That's how we did it 4-5 years ago, when no one knew how to remove door handles.
Maybe I'll go and take the rear door handles off my C320 SS just for fun...

remember, I only painted the passenger's side CAP.
The door handles and driver's side CAP I purchased at the dealership already in Brilliant Silver 744.
but to answer your question, the painted CAP still looks as good as new.
I used MB paint, and clear coated it to last. My car is always parked inside the garage or under cover, so that may be the reason why it still looks new.

If anyone can give input I would much appreciate. Also I am looking for the part# for the cap without the ir or lock for the passenger side door. I have read over the thread and found a few different ones and can't seem to identify the correct one
Thanks
Sam
