I am in the process of looking for a used '02 or '03 C230K Coupe. Few questions.

Re: price on an 04
Silly math, here's how it's priced on CarsDirect.com, no trade-in and no C-Spot coupon -
....................MSRP.....CARSDIRECT
BASE..........$26,570......$21,671
W/AUTO.....$27,930......$23,026
W/C5.........$30,740......$25,639
W/Htd St....$31,410......$26,262
Don't know where you get your price, you are off on the options, dealer invoice is $2,613 for C5, $1,265 for auto, $623 for heated seats. How do you come up with pricing? The salesman is good if he can get that much for a coupe.

Here's his math:
$27000 Base price 04
$1000 auto trans
$2000 c5 package
$1000 heated seats & lightes door sills
______
$31000
-4000 trade in
_______
$27000 price before coupon
with the c-spot coupon i could get it for about $25,500. He was giving me no incentives. If I didn't have the trade in, he would have told me $31,000 and left me hanging. I thought I read correctly in prvious posts that I could get about $4000 off the $31000 as incentives before figuring in the trade in.
What am I missing / what incentives isn't he telling me about? I do plan to get a coupon and toss it in after I get a final price. So far I haven't got a good price.
I'm thinking of going to another dealer not showing my hand and just trying to get a good base price on the car then when I get that, mention my car as a trade in. hopefully that with the coupon will be a good price abd a deal I can take.

now what?
What do you recommend? How do I get this dealer to give me some sort of a reasonable price? Should I talk to another dealer at the dealership or work with another dealership?
I feal like I'm getting no where with this guy![wall](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/banghead.gif)
Is there any information that I should bring with me to push the dealer?

If the salesmonkey won't budge, then here's what you do. Get the carsdirect price and print it out (if it's not cheap enough in your area, try 92660 for a zip). Then call the internet or fleet sales manager and ask him if they'll match the carsdirect price (haven't met a dealer that won't). Then work it through him or just buy it on carsdirect, a much better experience anyway. They'll deliver the car to you, you never have to see a salesmonkey or finance manager again. Hassle free buying....

What is with the crazy price discrepancies around the country per CarsDirect?
For an '04 230 Coupe with Base MSRP of $26570 we get:
Buell in Cali: $21761 ($4809)
Baltimore/DC: $24570 ($2000)
NYC: $23461 ($3109)
Philly: $23361 ($3209)
Miami: $23361 ($3209)
Seems you could still save some serious money by having a car shipped to you from a dealer in a more price competitive area? I'm not sure the (more than a few) arrogant dealers here in the D.C. area will be "moved" by what the cars sell for elsewhere.
I don't remember seeing this large a difference in pricing by region when I was researching purchase of my '03 last summer, and the pricing pattern seems to be comparable for both the sedans and coupes, 230's and 320's...what gives?
