What's wrong with my audio system?
Hi everyone,
about a week ago, I was listening to a CD in my 2004 C240 and I heard the sound cut to this:

it went back to normal in about a minute, and then went back to this. There is zero sound when I try to listen to the radio. It worked normally the next day when I started my car, but within a minute it was back to this and I haven't been able to get normal sound since.
I tried checking the fuses and they looked fine to me. Anyone know what could be wrong with my stereo?

I don’t claim to be an expert but there are three likely possiblities when CD players start getting flaky-the laser lens is dirty, the laser is beginning to fail, or there is a dead spot developing in the spin motor. You may consider cleaning the laser since that’s not too expensive. If you don’t know how to do this safely I advise you to call around to local repair shops, and see what they charge to check it out and/or clean it. Then you can descide if it is worth proceeding with repair or if you want a replacement unit.
