Aftermarket Radio Fiber optic decoder
I have C55 late 2004 US model with Audio 20 and Comand Aps, no cd changer, Low cost teleaid USA and harman kardon sound system
Bought a Android Radio, plugged in and everything works wonders, dashboard, steering buttons and everything except there is no sound when I plug my original unit it works fine
I used an optic fiber decoder which presumably should work.
Anyone had experiences with this? anyway to check if the decoder is faulty?

Please post brand and model information about the decoder you used. I upgraded the system in my 05 C230 which did not have the Harmon Kardon system. When I was studying the issue, it appeared to me that extra steps were needed for the Harmon Kardon-equipped cars. It may be that the interface you used is only handling the steering wheel and power interface and not the speaker integration.
Again, I have not worked with the Harmon Kardon system, but I think there is an amp in the trunk. You may need to run some additional wiring to the amp location and connect directly to the speakers.
I put information about your car in the menu on the Crutchfield web site and it returned notes saying. "When installing a new stereo, you'll need to run new speaker wire to each speaker. The factory amp is in the trunk."
Here's a link to the web site: https://www.crutchfield.com/g_168550....html?skipvs=Y

Its just one of these "chinese" decoders, minus the red ACC wire.
while the W211 and the W209 can use the decoder... why does w203 require you to wire up the amplifier
Im using Seicane radio and bought the optic fiber decoder with it... going to order a fiber decoder from another source in case it was just the decoder failing
Otherwise its trying to wire up the amplifier or change to a different one.

It appears that you have something like this:
The description indicates that it should work. I noticed that in the Q&A section that it doesn’t support fading between the front and rear. A couple of the ratings indicate that the buyers received defective units. So you may have broken unit as you suspect.

Even though you have a decoder I think you have to wire up the amplifier with a cable like this : https://www.aliexpress.com/item/3281...c00QnRBqU&mp=1
Do note that the cable i linked to is specific for head units from that supplier and might not work with your setup.
You should be able to get a cable like this from the manufacturer of your head unit

hertittys: Could you or someone provide a link to an Android head unit that would work in an 2005 c230 kompressor with "NTG1 Comand APS Audio 20" without the Harmon Kardon amp.
Thank you
Thank you

Hi dude. In fact, there may be several options. Firstly, the reason may be in the decoder itself, secondly, in the fiber optic cable, but usually they are very high quality and durable and I do not know what exactly the reason is ... Perhaps you need a high quality fiber optic cable for your decoder. There are many companies that can help you, but the guys from the telecom fiber network have been working in this field for over 10 years and they have an excellent reputation and colossal professionalism. Leading telecommunications companies in the United States use the company's services to provide millions of Americans with stable fiber-optic internet and television. Perhaps they can advise you in this matter ...
