battery removal

Is it safe to remove the battery from a 2004 C230 sedan? Is there reprogramming process that must be done on the computers after the battery is disconnected?

thanks,
Mike

I think you are referring to the radio code required after disconnecting the battery? Yeah you probably need to enter the radio code back when you conenct the battery...

There is a way around this...

All you need to do is connect a 9 volt battery into the system just before you unhook the car's 12 volt unit. The 9 volt trickle is enough to keep the radio's memory intact until you reinstall the 12 volt battery.
I've even seen kits to accomplish this that simply connect through the cigar lighter receptacle.Ask the parts guy/girl at any major auto-parts store.

No, W203 audio systems do not require any codes to be re-entered. It is therefore safe to disconnect the battery. When reconnecting the battery, make sure you have all connectors plugged into the head unit - otherwise it will lock itself up.

WRONG WRONG WRONG.

Just unplug the battery and then hook it back up. the radio DOES NOT require a code to work.

I have removed the battery several times and there is no need to enter a radio code. I have removed my comand several times also with no problems.
