M271 Blow by from oil cap- is this normal?
Hi this is my first time I post in this great forum and thanks for all in advance.
I tried to top up engine oil today with 0.5 liter after 5000 km from last change which I believe to be normal consumption. But I noticed air with exhaust smell blowing from the cap as shown. I have no issue and the car runs fine with no MEL. Is this normal or should I do any maintenance?

I did visit a workshop and he said this is not that sever and suggested to do oil flush by adding some flush addittive and replace the oil filter. Do you thing this will work?

I would listen to the mechanic and do an oil flush and see if that helps. You're probably just experiencing engine blow by which would be part of the reason you are adding oil in between service intervals. Some of this is normal, too much is a bad sign. If the engine flush doesn't help, you may want to consider some other temporary band-aids out there for oil additives to reduce oil consumption.
Hard to provide any advice without knowing how many miles/kms are on your Merc... Eventually, every car must die. Even if you start to see high oil consumption/blow by, you might be able to ride it out for a long time. At this point, it isn't worth much anyway so it can't hurt to try an squeeze out as much life as possible from your M271.

Many thanks for all of you. I was wondering why my previous Hyundai Accent not doing this. It seems they are away different and not from the same school..
