A new (to me) C240 wagon, what should I look out for?

Just purchased an immaculate 2004 240 4matic wagon with 113,000 on it, so far as I can tell I'm the second owner.

The dealer I bought it from is also the guy whose been my mechanic for 15 years. I trust his judgement and he assures me that there is nothing wrong with the car.

There's a garage nearby that specializes in MB, but the closest dealership is over an hour away.

1) oil change is first on the list, but what else should be done sooner rather than later

2) what common issues should I be on the lookout for

3) if I call or email the nearest dealership will they email the MB service history?

TIA

Bill

officerbill,

Welcome & congrats on your purchase.
Start with the stickies at the top of the w203 forum. Read, Read lots.
Then do a search on this forum on 'what to look for', similar terms, etc and do more reading while others find your thread and post their comments.

As for a service history on your new ride, did you not request it from the seller?
Not sure if the stealership will provide you these records; may be a privacy issue unless seller provides permission to them as previous owner.

Yep, that what I've been doing.

The dealer, who is also my mechanic, bought the car at an out of state auction. I guess I could use the old title to track down the previous owner, but that seems kind of creepy.

Congrats on the new ride. Start budgeting now for front suspension and front axle parts now. 4matic front end parts are unique and dealer only. There is zero aftermarket support for 4matics. It's a dirty little secret new owners only discover after the purchase. Everything else is bog standard W203. They are extremely reliable and easy to DIY. Good luck.
