2003 C-Class 4dr Sdn 2.6L AWD 4MATIC

Pardon the newbie post, lurked a while and this my first time posting. i have the chance to buy the 2003 C240 AWD with 128K miles. I've never had a MB before. I done VIN research and have done just about everything but drive to the dealership and kick the miles. Dealer is asking $4500. They sent me a copy of the recent service history and I viewed a carfax report as well.

Does this sound like a decent deal, not knowing any particulars ? All I've been told over the years is that a MB is "overpriced" and "expensive to repair". I'd hate to buy someone elses trouble with sky-high $ repair bills.

Thanks everyone, and apologies for the newb post

$4500 is definitely on the high end but condition and sevice history are also very important. Are you buying it from a used car dealer? He probably paid no more than $2000 for it.

Are you going to be maintaining this car yourself or taking it to a dealer/mechanic for service? If it's the latter I suggest buying something else. The repair bills are going to make this car not worth owning.

Do you really need 4matic? The C240 4matic is by far the slowest and least fuel efficient version of the W203. Front end suspension, axle and brake parts for the 4matics are only available from the dealer. It's substatially more expensive to repair than a RWD car of similar spec.

I think that what I needed to hear, thanks. I'd be taking the vehicle in for work; its listed at a MB dealership in my area.
