Cupkit is 600 from H&R and COs are about 1200 from H&R I believe.

Both are sport suspensions, so you won't be disappointed with either. Main difference is that coilovers are height/stiffness adjustable, but you can buy a set of Koni shocks to go with your springs that have adjustable stiffness as well.

hmmm

Hey Preyx,

You seem to know some stuff....

So with my H&R springs, I figured the engine weight on my 1.8 is what is not making me happy with the drop... So if I get these koni adjustable shocks you mention, will it allow me to drop the front end or just adjust ride stiffness?

I have a feeling I will have to get a coil over kit due to my engine weight not even making me happy with the cup kit....

Your $.02 please?

Unfortunately, I don't think the Konis will be height-adjustable. For height issues you'll most likely have to go with the COs. My friend got the H&R Cup Cit on his 323ci, he had the same complaints about it that you do (front not low enough). He's seriously considering COs, although I'm sure the low front + high back ought to make for interesting handling characteristics. At least it's not as bad as the coupes, which have a lower fender on the rear tires (mine are tucked IN at least 1"). :p

BTW Drew, did you get the tint done yet? I hope you got limosine black.

Hey what's going on? No tint yet I can't make a decision on where to go. I got the best price from a place BrabusCClass told me about in LA. But they don't use moleskin or anything to prevent scratches. But I can't find any bad info about the shop...................

Visions is good, I dunno why that one guy got screwed on his install. I mean, we got our ML done there last month and it came back just fine. If you're worried, maybe you could talk to them about guaranteeing their work or something. Like I said in the previous thread, 4 cars with no tint-related problems. Good luck getting your tint. I hope to see a picture thread from you soon.

new direction

Well I have weighed, I have measured, and now I have decided....

"Anything I can not bring with me I will not purchase any further for my ride."

This is based on the fact that I am getting an E class or an A6 next.. If I get to bang a sales girl again, I guess Ill get a Benz again....

THis makes me wonder, can the cup kit or coil overs from a w203 fit on a w211??? What about the C32 brakes??

I know Ill prolly get smacked a little for this post but oh well....

Thanks guys and gals!

oh man i finished the install on my hr cup kit was around 600 something. car looks great will post pics sometimes. I remember shopping CO are like 1300 something from HR. I have some more engine weight but would have been cool if they had the pad shim things in the front like in the back, that way ppl could adjust the front. However i wouldnt recommend going with CO in the front cause i drove mine with the cup kit in the front only for a week or so and was alot of shaking 40-80mph...although was a good reason to crusie 80+ . shaking is gone now that i have the rear end done.

$600 something total including the cup/kit and install? Did you do it your self? I was just curious since the cupkit itself new is $585.

Since I'm close friends with him, I can help arrange direct sales at discount. Just lemme know when you're interested in a part and I'll track down a price for you. (I think you mentioned clear corners to me before, I think it was around $35)

I got the kit from tirerack, so if it was 585 i might be off but i think theirs was more in the realm of 650ish. I did the install myself....I was due for an alignment which i took to a mechanic for. However, its not hard at all just takes some time. Just rent/buy a set of strut spring compressors from an auto parts store...and remove/replace. Its good to have a set of air tools since you ll have to turn long bolts to compress the springs. The rears were alot easier, howeve ryou have to remove most of the trunk paneling to get to the top of the shocks.

Too bad i didnt take pics of the install....but it makes such a big difference, like the car is riding on rails
