this has been discussed a few times... do a search and I think you will find more info. I wouldn't install that POS though...... email steve and do factory parts if you really feel the need to have that option.
im going to install the real deal. eventually id like to get an 04 comand and replace my XM with OEM sirius. first though parktronic and vented/heated seats are on the agenda.
it's not about being a man or being able to park properly without it. It's a convience feature just like having power windows and door locks. I have it and it's on all the time. Once you have it, you'll always want it. And I would not install that POS in my car. Go with the real deal. Original benz. http://homepage.mac.com/drsunilpatel/PhotoAlbum14.html

The other side of the coin is, that retrofitting the system (Parktronic) onto a C class IS price prohibitive. That said ONLY if you compare apples to APPLES.. aka "Real deal" as said before... getting all new parts.. shipping and handling adds your price, then installation... even to those like mr Sunman!... my hat goes to him as he has pretty much dismantelled even the engine on his car "just" to "check it out" AND the good news is that he is put it back together and it works even better!!... kidding!!!, then the costs of installing the kit... if you said "I'll do it myself".. that can probabbly be even MORE expensive when you add what your time costs --though many tend not to count what their time is worth... then just work for free!!!.. why need a paycheck... kidding!!!!... I don't want to be shut dead by all the angered members from the MbWOrld (that is a LOT of people on this board!... lol), especially Dr Chill and Mr Ducman (I think I am going to anger you more Mr Ducman, but every single time I see your name I think on Donald Duck... can't tell you why... maybe the name sounds to me some derivate from him??... ). You may opt to get "used" parts to lower your costs... still, price prohibitive when compaired to what the "system" would cost from manufacturer if it was available in the US.
I have to agree with Mr Sunman and Mr CitronC230K_03. Once you have the feature, you learn to appreciate it... same can be said of Nav systems these days... 99% of the time, I just look at the little dot on the screen... but that 1% that I really use the system to navigate, that time if were the only one would be worth.. especially when is me that I get lost without even trying!!... LOL.
Mr rbardo:
Nice work you've done on your car!
I'll be in Vegas most of July on vacation... maybe I can meet with you and see your car in person! (I am flying.. so no chance to bring any of my toys with me)
Depends on if you get used or new parts. New can run around 3000 with new sensors and everything new. Sensors can be very expensive. 1000 dollars alone for them if they are new.
Thanks Weiderman, fyi, thats a doctored image..... I dropped the front a little. I guess Ill put the original back up as many ppl tend to think that is really what my car looks like..
I dunno, I think I may put this alternative parktronic in my car...
