Hello all. I have a w203 c220 coupe 2005. I have noticed that the tailgate appears to be made of either plastic or fibreglass. Is this normal. The paintwork appear original with no evidence of repair. Thank you

 

Yes this is normal. The piece below the clear plastic window is made of painted plastic (the plastic is white) as well. The actual shape where the licence plate goes varies depending on where the car was shipped to and sold, as the mounting holes are different. The plastic piece covers the sheet metal parts.
