Brake booster vacuum oil?

Hi,

taking things apart part to get to the bottom of my P0170 and am refreshing all intake/vacuum lines etc and have taken the brake booster pump off the back of the engine and found it full of oil. And it looks like that oils can get into the vacuum line at the top.

should it have oil in?

Yes that is normal. If it wasn't leaking (common problem with this engine and pump), you shouldn't have opened it, as it is now going to leak unless you replace the gasket, which the dealer does not sell separately. You're looking at either gasket maker (if it holds) or a new pump and gaskets.

Not sure if this is always the case, but when my car threw a P0170 I found some of my vacuum lines had stretched, and one of them had basically loosened off a nipple, starting a small air leak. There are 4 pieces total (all labeled part 5 in the diagram below) for the M271 engine, including the super short one connecting the one way valve on top of the valve cover but not including the super curved one coming off the EGR (part 20, which has its own actual PN at the dealership). The correct hose is 3.5mm ID (3mm is too tight and 4mm is too loose ) and 8mm OD. These are the correct official lengths:

310mm electric switchover valve to combination valve top
470mm electric switchover valve to combination valve bottom
740mm Intake manifold to check valve
40mm electric changeover valve

Part number *should* be 117-997-09-82, but I am unable to verify.

For the top 3 lengths mentioned (ie everything but the 40mm one) I would honestly make the lengths a bit longer. That way if the end frays, one can just lop off the tip instead of replacing the whole length.

Thanks for the response.
There were signs of leakage which is why I took it apart. Changed the seal and gasket on the reverse.

Ive checked all the small hoses and they look good.
