Balance shaft issue with the attached vin number
Trying to find out if this VIN # WDBRF54J56F729914 on a 2006 C280 has an engine with the balance shaft issues - car is in great shape only 106,000 KM - don't want to purchase and find out I need 5K in repairs in few km...

figured it it was a very early produced model June 2005 and has engine # 100655 which is way below the engine number they started using the updated parts - # 468993
since the car has low miles the part has probably not failed YET...

Or if it was replaced under a recall or warranty long ago... I've requested he go back to the dealer and have them pull records to see if it's been done otherwise I don't think I have a pole long enough to touch this one... I told him the repair is worth more than he's asking for the car...

In the realm of taking a risk and assuming ownership of an engine with an uncertain future, akin to what I've done, I'd suggest investing in something that offers an enjoyable driving experience and an exotic appearance. This choice could provide a rewarding counterbalance to the inherent uncertainty and anxiety surrounding engine reliability. I'd advise against purchasing a car that has now found its primary use as a taxi cab in Albania.
