Help - All of a sudden making loud chirping noise when off
I've had my car stored at my father in law's for the past 6 weeks while they retrofit my building (and parking space). He started and moved it about a week ago and today went out to find it making this noise out of the blue with the car off.
The key fob won't open the door so I told him to get in with the emergency metal key on it and he did and then the fob won't start the car. He started it last week to move it just fine. He popped the hood and said it sounds like it's coming from somewhere down below.
Any idea what this could be? Sounds kind of like a constant cricket on the video attached (and when I was on the phone with him). So weird!

Replace the battery in the key fob.
The manual key may allow entry but not disarm the security system.
i ran into a similar issue with a car that I considered purchasing. It had sat for a long time. Both the main battery and the key fob battery were dead, A jump got the car running but the alarm continued to sound until the fob battery was replaced.
(Btw, I didn’t buy the car. It was badly neglected and the seller didn’t provide much confidence.)

We shall see if that's it. I'll try it if it occurs again. I think the main car battery may have been just wearing down, as it was parked for a couple of weeks without starting. My father-in-law charged it with a portable charger and it stopped and the car started and the key fob started working again. Hoping it was just that
but my mechanic I've seen said the car alarm has a separate battery so we shall see.
