W203 c class c320 petrol year 2001 has been giving starting problems getting slowly worse. 1st time starting in the day the key will insert ok and turn, dash lights come on but starter will not engage. After about 20 tries with the key it starts, but sometimes throws up random faults on the dash. If I turn it off and restart the codes disappear. The rest of the day the car starts fine, but next day its back to the fault. The starter has been reconditioned and has made no change, the fuse 52 is perfect condition, any ideas?

Weak battery, possible overnight drain from the power seat modules. See the sticky.

Thank you, seems like a new battery and cleaned up terminals has worked, voltage loss overnight is just 0.02 volts, car starts 1st time...so far so good
