Smart Key remote window roll down/up

the reason im asking is b/c my friend has a older maximia (94-95 ish) and she can be about 2 car lengths away and remote roll her windows down/up. For mine to work on my c240..... i basically have to be 2 to 3 feet from my driver or passenger side door.... im just curious to know if this sounds about right?

yeah i agree.... stand so close to the car and hold the button down...... its faster to just get into the car and one touch all the windows down...

is this the same way for all the classes S,E,Ml... etc...

has there been any improvments on this since 2002... or are the 04 and 05 basically the same way?

Except if you'd get in the car, you'd be sweating like a pig inside when it is 80+ F outside, whereas you could just lower your windows and ventilate your car's interior - it takes no more than a minute - while standing comfortably nearby.

So don't use it, what is the problem? You don't have to use every feature just because it is available

possibly the reason why your having to stand so close is because your not pointing it at the IR sensor on the door handle?

on the w220, I can be 5-6 feet away, walking towards it and pointing the smartkey @ the door and roll down the windows by the time I'm @ the car.

Give it a try and see if you get better results.

Mine works from at least 10 feet. Just make sure you're pointing at the handle, and it helps to be walking up from behind the car as the sensors are more visible from that angle.

Perfect answer! Reminds me of the old joke where the patient tells the doctor, "It hurts when I do this"...

When it works, I use this feature all of the time. No sense in sitting in a microwave, even for 15 seconds while the windows are coming down.

All up/down feature....

Also useful when cleaning windows. I've had both IR receivers fail and be replaced....thank God I bought the extended warranty.

there is a simple mod for VW/Audi that allow a key combo to be pressed on their which will roll down all the windows or close the roof/windows just as one tounch would. wish we could get this for MB's.
