Using 0 gauge is very common.. I use 0 or 1 gauge 100% pure copper cable when I'm hooking up large mono amps...and sometimes use the 4 gauge for hooking up the subwoofers.. I've heard that thicker is better when installing large components.. some installers don't like CCA (copper clad aluminum) cable, but I have used it on small amps with no problems..but I don't do competition. On our mercedes, finding where to pass that big diameter cable and run it along the floor boards back to the trunk area is the challenge, if that is what you are attempting..you could find an appropriate spot on the firewall on the driver's side and drill the right size hole for 0 gauge and run it back on that side... Just make sure you don't drill into anything else..
