that's the shaetz chrome tape? you put it on the existing louvers. i think it looks ok.

As far as appearence- going from silver to chrome isn't that far of a stretch.
Functionality- chrome is more durable than paint and I've been hearing about rock-chipped grills.
I'd say- why not?
I'd like to see it person.
