If the car is towed the key must be in the 1 or 2 position and the dash switch that looks like a car tow hook must be pressed. This turns off the alarm and allows the rear wheels to spin at a different speed without the traction control grabbing them so they can be towed. Its all in the manual. No flatbed needed, nice, but not needed.

Very few cars have an absolute need for a flatbed. All of the caveats were covered by MDP. I always request a flatbed for towing as fewer things can go wrong this way.

If there is an issue with your transmision or gearbox, what did it need to be towed for? Did they need to test drive it for repairs?

When I had my wreck I actually sent one wrecker company away and waited for a flat bed to come. Yes flatbeds are more $$ (at least they are here) but thats why I have my towing/labor insurance. It pays up to $500 per tow per accident and up to $750 for storage of the car per accident. And do you know how exspensive it is!!! drum roll please.......... an extra $18.00 per 6 months, thats around .10 per day. And it paid for itself when i had my wreck.

towing my c-class

I'm looking to tow my c-class from Minneapolis to Baltimore next week. I rented a Budget truck with a flatbed. It's just that I need to attach my car onto the trailer about twice before I finally return it to the budget rental store in baltimore. Where can I learn the specifics of attaching my beloved c-class sedan onto a flatbed without hurting it?
