2006 C280 4 matic opinions
Found a cheap 2006 C280 with 146k Check engine light is on which is concerning. Waiting for the vin to check the motor and I will call and see if there has been any work done to the balance shaft issue Ive read about. The current owner did say the check engine light has been on since they bought it with 110k and never seemed to be an issue so they ignored it.
Could a motor with the balance shaft issue make it to 146k? I'll scan it if I go look but looking for opinions please.

The w203 was sold in the US and Canada with 4 different engines in several displacement. The 06 and early 07 M272 (c230, c280, c350) have the bad balance shaft. The fact that this person has been driving around with an unresolved CEL for years is an obvious red flag. The balance shaft repair is an engine out job costing more than the car is worth at this point. I really doubt its been done on this car. If you want a reliable w203 look for an m112 powered C240 or C320. Both were available with 4matic if thats important to you.
