c220 crank but wont start.is it the Crankshaft Position Sensor?
Hello all any help appreciated
car is c220 w203 year 2000. came to start it a few days ago i can crank it but it wont start.fuel pump replaced about 2 years ago.i replaced the MAF sensor today just to make sure. everywhere i read it says CPS is the fault , i have no check engine light or ODB scanner fault codes , while scanner is connect i checked to see the RPM at the crank and its barely moved ,about 100 RPM. does all that mean i should replace CPS?
its very hard to reach i hope i won't do it for nothing .

If rev counter moves i think problem some where else . Do you have a spark at the plugs ?. Pull a ht lead off one of the spark pluigs in the engine ,,and put an old spark plug into the end of the ht lead ,now most important is hold the ht lead in a pair of insulated grips .And then hold over the spark plug that you removed the ht lead from .Get someone to spin over the starter while you look for a spark from old plug to the one in the engine . This will flash to tell you you have a spark if you dont have a spark then i would look at changing that CPS you were talking about at the start of your post. If you have a spark next to check fuel ,but you should see fuel on the spark plug that you removed before this . But if its dry its a fuel problem..Now i started this post you will have more help to come .

i must admit i don't even know where the spark plugs are or what ht lead is ,i do have the mercedes EWA software and every digram possible of the car .i know i have glow plugs which is also something that is new to me .i did go to the car and pulled the fuel pump relay.i have voltmeter but i need 12v battery to check it .will be very lucky if it is the problem as i can buy it for few euros.im trying to learn as i go already managed to fix some electrical problems in the past but this one might be to big for me .getting the car to a garage i can count on is very hard

I am unable to help you ,, because you never said in you post ,,or in your profile that your car was a diesel engine should have D on the end opfb your C220 D i am a petrol head sorry
