2006 C230 Won't shift gears on occasion
Problem: The benz won't shift gears upon reaching 20-25 mph on occasion
Symptoms: Loud sound when achieving over 20-25 mph, car feels heavier, won't speed up easily (You can press the gas pedal further without the speed boost).
Current remedies: Turn the car off and wait some time.
I'd like to know what the problem might be and any solutions to it.
Thanks!

A while back my '98 W202 C280 (722.606 trans) had issues. Does a W203 have the same auto trans?
After looking about the web I decided the problem was the conductor plate and ordered another. Drained the trans, removed the old plate, installed new. "While I was at it" I tested the shift solenoids for continuity; all good. Reassembled and no workie. Took it to the indie for $1000... bad solenoid and a broken whatsis in the valve body (which I had considered but decided not to look into while I was in there). Also, according the the indie, one shift solenoid was bad, though he didn't explain how he determined that. Ouch. But now several years later the problem has not recurred. BTW I used Valvoline Maxlife for refill ATF, much less costly than the MB stuff.
Sometimes you just gotta go to a pro, but I still wonder whether that solenoid was actually bad.

Had similar issues with my 06 C230 sport. Found this site (Circuitboardmedics.com) and sent my conductor plate to them. It took about 3 or 4 days to get it back and then a day to reinstall the part and replace fluid and filter. Car runs great. No programming necessary. Total cost was roughly $800 for everything. The dealership was trying to get me for $3200.
